Thought I’d share a picture that hangs in my hallway which I received as a birthday present some years ago. It was taken by photographer Jack Ambridge at Farringdon Underground Station, which is one of my favourites due to it’s wrought iron columns, mellow brickwork and slightly dishevelled appearance.
Although a busy station it seems to have captured a quiet moment and the lady seems totally engrossed in what she is reading. The calmness of the platform seems to be at odds with the hectic design of the advertising poster above her head.
I haven’t been inside the station recently and I’m hoping that the new Crossrail network station will not have infringed on the quaintness of the Underground platforms.
I’ve always wondered what the book is that is consuming the ladies attention. It couldn’t be a Marian Keyes could it?
