A few weeks ago I posted about a piece of masonry that I’d found on the Thames foreshaw. Certainly it was from a high status medieval building, that’s what was going on in my head.
Well today I got an email back from the archaeological team at the Museum of London and guess what…..?
“I’m afraid this is part of a modern building rubble, 19th-20th century, it is not carved masonry, most probably from blitz damage, it has been heavily eroded by the river“.
Oh well next time maybe.
